Between the hours of 08:00 – 08:30 and 18:00 – 18:30, telephone lines are open for emergencies only.

Between 18.00-18.30 your call will be directed to an answering service who will contact the on-call GP if necessary.

Reception, general enquires and appointment booking lines are open 08:30 – 18:00.

Advance Notice of Closure

Please be advised that Port View Surgery will be closed to patients on Tuesday 6th December from 13:00 onwards.

We will re-open at the normal time on Wednesday 7th December

If you have a need for urgent medical assistant, that can not wait until we re-open please call the surgery number to be directed to help.

If you have a medical emergency during this time, then please call 999.

Extended Hours for Pre-booked Appointments

Extended Hours are for pre-booked appointments only. These are on:

  • Tuesday
  • Wednesday
  • Thursday

Out of Hours Service

Between 18:30 and 08:00, Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and on Bank Holidays your call will be redirected to the NHS 111 service.

If you need urgent assistance between the hours of 18:00 – 18:30, Monday – Friday, please continue to phone the surgery number 01752 840115, your call will be answered by a messaging service who will contact the on-call GP at the surgery to assist you.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

NHS 111

If you require urgent medical advice between the hours of 18.30-08.00, which can not wait until the surgery reopens please dial NHS111.

NHS111 will assess your problem and offer advice accordingly. You may be given advice over the phone, offered an appointment in an out of hours GP clinic or you may be visited at home.

In the interests of patients, doctors and staff all calls to 111 are recorded.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
