Minor Injuries Service

We are pleased to announce that we are now able to provide our patients with advice and treatment for Minor Injuries.

A minor injury could be any of the following:

  • Cuts, lacerations or abrasions
  • Simple local infections
  • Animal bites
  • Insect bites or stings
  • Foreign bodies
  • Sprains or strains
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Simple burns
  • Bruises

So if you are unfortunate enough to suffer any of these, and you are a patient registered with Port View Surgery, then please contact us before heading to the Liskeard or The Cumberland centre Minor Injury Units.

We must stress though that this is NOT a drop in service, we are happy to see you, but you will need an appointment, so please call us first to ensure we have the capacity.  If for any reason we are unable to treat you we will direct you to the most appropriate service for help.

Routine appointments during the summer holidays

We all enjoy having a break from work to spend time with our family and friends during the summer holidays and our GPs are no exception.

Over the next few weeks you may notice that we have a reduced capacity for routine appointments, this is due to one or more of our GP's taking a well deserved break and whilst we have tried very hard to secure the services of locum GP's, there are weeks when cover is very sparse.  During these times we will need to prioritise our appointments and we will only be able to deal with urgent medical needs.

Your patience, as patients, is appreciated.

Getting the right help at the right time

Our team of Patient Advisors' are trained to direct you to the best and most appropriate source of help for your condition.  Not everything needs to be seen by a GP and in fact rather than wait for a GP appointment you may well be treated more quickly by accessing help elsewhere.  See the leaflet below for more advice about where to access the help you need.
